This year’s program will feature a vast selection of 60 Brazilian films including documentaries and features premiering in the U.S.
The 27th edition of the Inffinito Brazilian Film Festival is set to take place from August 5 to September 30, 2023. This annual event, hosted in Miami for almost three decades, has become a tradition and part of the South Florida cultural events calendar.
It also reaches New York with events at SummerStage in Central Park, Commodore Barry Park in Brooklyn, and Rainey Park in Astoria, Queens. The Festival celebrates 27 years of milestones and achievements thanks to the efforts of Inffinito Arts Foundation creators and directors – Adriana L. Dutra, Claudia Dutra, and Viviane B. Spinelli – who have hosted 94 festivals in 13 countries, and presented more than 2,000 Brazilian films.
This year’s program will feature a vast selection of 60 films including documentaries and features premiering in the US that reflect the plurality of Brazilian audiovisual production.
There will also be concerts, outdoor cinema events, parties, tributes, and lots of Brazilian culture – both in person and virtually – throughout American territory.
In-person screenings will run from August 30 to September 2 at the Village East by Angelika in New York City and from September 10 to 15 at the Silverspot Cinema in Downtown Miami.
There will also be two free outdoor screenings: Dom Salvador & Abolition by Lilka Hara & Artur Ratton on August 25 at 8 pm at Commodore Barry Park in Brooklyn; Eskawatã Kayawai: The Spirit of Transformation by Lara Jacoski & Patrick Belém on September 2 at Rainey Park in Astoria Queens.
Virtual screenings will be available throughout the US from August 5 to September 30 at www.inff.online with recent releases as well as two thematic exhibitions specially prepared for this edition: LGBTQIAPN+ Screenings and Indigenous Screenings.
There is also a tribute to filmmaker Tetê Moraes for her 80 years of life dedicated to cinema, journalism, and literature focusing on women in Brazilian society.
The celebration culminates with two great outdoor concerts with singer/rapper/composer Emicida on September 3 at SummerStage Central Park (free admission) and on September 9 at Miami Beach Bandshell (Miami).
